What classifies as a Dumpster
A dumpster is a type of movable waste container designed to be brought and taken away by a special collection vehicle, or to a bin that a specially designed garbage truck lifts, empties into its hopper, and lowers, on the spot.
Types of Dumpster
Here is a list of Dumpsters and Containers with their advantages .
- Roller container – A similar container, but a hook-lift is used to roll-off the container.
Advantages -Roll-offs are placed by roll-off trucks. As the roll-off truck raises its hydraulically operated bed, the roll-off container rolls off the bed. A cable is used to slowly lower the container. After the waste container is loaded, the roll-off truck pulls the filled container onto the roll-off truck with the cable and winch system. If the roll-off truck is not a winch system, then it is most likely a hook-lift system. A hook-lift system works by the truck extending a 90 degree arm with a hook on the end which hooks under a bar and gently lifts the dumpster onto the truck. Most hook-lift systems are on smaller roll-off trucks as they are usually used for 20 yard containers and under. These smaller systems are usually the preferred option on smaller scale construction jobs such as roof replacement, kitchen remodels, and garage clean-outs. Smaller single-axle trucks are generally viewed as safer operations as they are much lighter and more easily transported in residential areas. When carried the roll-off must be covered.
2.Skip (container) –Skips are commonly used to hold open-topped loads of construction and demolition waste, garden waste or other waste and litter types. The construction debris may originate from a building, renovation, or demolition site; building supplies can be delivered to a site in a skip that is later used to remove waste. Skips are also used for various cleaning-out jobs that need much material to be taken away, and at factories producing large quantities of scrap metal. The material in the skip may be taken to a landfill, recycled or recovered/disposed of in some other way. There are a wide range of uses of skip bins including construction building, home renovations, handyman maintenance or repair projects, garden or green clean up.
What dumpster size do I need?
Choosing the right roll off dumpster size for your cleanup will depend on how much debris you have, which is commonly measured by volume in cubic yards. We provide dumpster rentals in sizes ranging from 10 to 40 cubic yards to accommodate your needs for projects small and large.
How much does it cost to rent a dumpster from Waste Management?
In general, Waste Management’s dumpster rentals are more expensive than other junk removal companies. The average dumpster rental cost is around $350 for a 20-yard dumpster and about $50 more for every 10 additional yards.
Waste Management gave us a range of quotes around and above that average for different locations across the US. For a job in Illinois, Waste Management offered us a 20-yard dumpster for $353. In Arizona, that same dumpster would have cost us $509. (Those rates included 5–7 days of use and 2–4 tons of junk.)
In summary: how much you pay will depend on where you’re renting your dumpster, how many other people are renting dumpsters in your area (you may end up spending more when everyone is doing their spring cleaning), and any added fees.
